Perfect 10 Charity: A Local DFW Organization Working Wonders in the Lives of Women and Children

Major League Baseball star Vernon Wells of the Los Angeles Angels and his wife, Charlene, started the Perfect 10 Charity in DFW after a very raw look into the impoverished areas of Dallas and Fort Worth while on a ministry outing a few years ago. They were moved at the number of homeless single mothers and children right here in our backyard.

Perfect 10 offers currently offers two programs in two different locations; Redemption House is a place for homeless young pregnant women between the ages of 18 and 26 to find shelter, education for life and motherhood, as well as the opportunity to begin providing for their unborn children. Hope House is a place for homeless mothers with children under the age of 14 to be given a safe place to live, financial, emotional and spiritual support as they become self-sufficient.

I learned about this organization at my church, Gateway in Southlake, at a special service just for women a few weeks ago that I attended with a bunch of girlfriends. I think our entire row shed a few tears during the presentation because it’s amazing the way this couple has been so inspired to give so much of what they’ve been given in order to change the lives of these families in an all-encompassing ministry that meets their basic needs in a Godly, Bible-based environment.

It’s interesting how often we are gung-ho to get involved in global missions which are absolutely part of The Great Commission, but we forget or remain contentedly unaware of the opportunity for missions in our own cities here in America, which are just as real as any other mission field in the world.

Perfect 10 Charity is showing the love of our Heavenly Father to women and children in Dallas-Fort Worth and are making an incredible difference in their lives, and that’s something I want to be a part of and something I encourage others to consider becoming a part of. This is one of the most effective and legitimate ministries I’ve ever heard of and if you’re looking for a place and program to get involved in, it’s absolutely worth your time to check it out.
