Today we visited one of my personal favorites in the entire DFW metroplex…the Dallas Arboretum! I L.O.V.E this place and every season is different, so it’s worthwhile to go several times a year. My favorite time of year is Autumn — woohoo, it’s almost here —and it’s also the best time at the Arboretum with perfect temps and zillions of pumpkins everywhere.
We wouldn’t normally decide to go during the hottest part of the Summer, like we did today, but we thought if we got there at opening time (9am), it wouldn’t be so bad. We’re not afraid of some heat, after all. Welllllll, we thought wrong. I think it was 90-something before 10am. We are trying to mix up our weekends a bit lately; it’s been a LOT of swimming for the past 3 months and although we enjoy it (no one more than Judah), I’m beginning to have permanent wrinkled fingers and toes from all the time in the water! Plus, it’s August “Dollar Days” at the arboretum, so you know I love a good deal. Parking is the standard price, but admission is just a buck for adults and kids 2 and under are free. (Which we only have 6 weeks left to take advantage of, remember.) Since our church has multiple services both Saturdays and Sundays, we almost always go to church on Saturday night so that Sunday can be a day of whatever we want to do as a family. Especially when Nathan has to go into work on a Saturday like he did yesterday, it’s nice to spend the next day having fun together. (Which I must admit, usually entails some cleaning chores. What can I say? I love to start the new week off with a clean home.)
